PatchTool OPENED FILE WINDOW
3D graph
Color Measurement
and Analysis
The “3D graph” tab represents the data of the opened file in 3D or 2D views. The data selections and display settings associated to the 2D and
3D views can be different, and thus optimized, for each view
Graph color spaces:
•
2D:
L*a*b*, xyY
•
3D:
L*a*b*, xyY, XYZ, RGB
Graph inputs: You can select up to five graph inputs:
1.
CMYK profile
2.
RGB profile
3.
Input data used as color reference: converted from spectral, L*a*b*, xyY, XYZ, CMYK, or RGB data.
4.
CMYK data
5.
RGB data.
The CMYK and RGB profiles are displayed as polygons; the input, CMYK and RGB data is displayed as individual points. Not all inputs may be
available for a given file, as it depends, among other factors, on the presence or not of reference CMYK and RGB data in the opened file and
the availability or not of a profile associated with the CMYK and RGB data. Please consult the Help manual for a table presenting the
requirements for each graph input.
Important: If your file contains extra reference data, either RGB or CMYK, in addition to measurement data, you cannot view the extra data
and the measurement data in the same graph. This is by design in PatchTool since only the “color reference” data, in this example the
measurement data, can be processed through a CMYK or RGB profile and, if the file contains extra CMYK or RGB data, the extra profile
processing cannot be done. To compare reference RGB or CMYK data with measurements, you should open each data type set in separate
files and compare the two graphs in separate windows.
Additional settings are available when clicking on the black arrow and when the file window is extended.
