The Extract Target from Image tool is designed to directly extract the average of target patches in full size photographic images. You can assign the number of ROWS and COLUMNS in the imaged target, adjust the target mask for almost any target perspective, and tweak the patch fill-ratio. The supported image formats are TIFF RGB and CMYK (8 bit/16 bit), and JPG. Embedded profiles are recognized and automatically extracted.

Important: This tool is NOT designed to create an ICC profile. This tool will enable you to check the accuracy of a target image, and thus the accuracy of a camera profile or of the correction procedure applied to an image.

Once the image is loaded (shown in the screenshot above), you zoom and drag the image until the target fills the dialog and you fit the target mask position and fill-ratio (shown below left). When you press the "Extract target" button, the extracted zones are shown in yellow (shown below right). You can accept the data, and the extracted target data will appear in a PatchTool file, or re-adjust the mask.
